• Hello,
    This may be a stupid question,I am not a programmer other than html

    I created my website using wordpress https://www.mountaincityonline.com

    When i created the site I used the domain name https://www.mcjctoday.com
    and then installed the plugin “Domain Mirror” to allow the following domain names to use the same site 1= mountaincityonline.com johnsoncountyonline.com and of course mcjctoday.com

    here is what i want to do
    I want to remove the domain names mcjctoday.com and johnsoncountyonline.com from the site and have it only use the mountaincityonline.com domain………. the reason is i have completely new projects i want to use those names for………..
    Is what i want to do possible??
    I tried exporting my database and changing all the mcjctoday.com references to mountaincityonline.com ……….. i created a new database and tried importing the information into it and got error message after error message,

    I went to the link you provided
    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Changing_The_Site_URL
    I have backed up my database
    And I opened my wp-config.php file

    but where do i paste the following statements?

    define(‘WP_HOME’,’https://example.com’);
    define(‘WP_SITEURL’,’https://example.com’);

    Does it matter??

    Here is what my config file looks like now

    */

    // ** MySQL settings – You can get this info from your web host ** //
    /** The name of the database for WordPress */
    define(‘DB_NAME’, ‘REMOVED BY ME’);

    /** MySQL database username */
    define(‘DB_USER’, ‘REMOVED BY ME’);

    /** MySQL database password */
    define(‘DB_PASSWORD’, ‘REMOVED BY ME’);

    /** MySQL hostname */
    define(‘DB_HOST’, ‘REMOVED BY ME’);

    /** Database Charset to use in creating database tables. */
    define(‘DB_CHARSET’, ‘utf8’);

    /** The Database Collate type. Don’t change this if in doubt. */
    define(‘DB_COLLATE’, ”);

    /**#@+

    *
    * Change these to different unique phrases!
    * You can generate these using the {@link https://api.www.ads-software.com/secret-key/1.1/ www.ads-software.com secret-key service}
    * You can change these at any point in time to invalidate all existing cookies. This will force all users to have to log in again.
    *

    define(‘AUTH_KEY’, ‘put your unique phrase here’);
    define(‘SECURE_AUTH_KEY’, ‘put your unique phrase here’);
    define(‘LOGGED_IN_KEY’, ‘put your unique phrase here’);
    define(‘NONCE_KEY’, ‘put your unique phrase here’);
    /**#@-*/

    /**
    * WordPress Database Table prefix.
    *
    * You can have multiple installations in one database if you give each a unique
    * prefix. Only numbers, letters, and underscores please!
    */
    $table_prefix = ‘wp_’;

    /**

    *
    * Change this to localize WordPress. A corresponding MO file for the chosen
    * language must be installed to wp-content/languages. For example, install
    * de.mo to wp-content/languages and set WPLANG to ‘de’ to enable German
    * language support.
    */
    define (‘WPLANG’, ”);

    /* That’s all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */

    /** WordPress absolute path to the WordPress directory. */
    if ( !defined(‘ABSPATH’) )
    define(‘ABSPATH’, dirname(__FILE__) . ‘/’);

    /** Sets up WordPress vars and included files. */
    require_once(ABSPATH . ‘wp-settings.php’);

    THE ‘REMOVED BY ME’ lines just replace the database login info……..I didnt think it would be a good idea to show that info LOL

    I forgot to say please?

    Try adding those lines immediately before // ** MySQL settings - You can get this info from your web host ** //

    I didnt think it would be a good idea to show that info

    Absolutely!
