remove featured image from appearing in post

I’m pretty new to wordpress – I just moved my blog over from wordpress.com today!

My existing posts all have featured images set. There must be a setting to include featured images in posts that I would like to turn off – my featured images are now appearing as a duplicate image at the top of each post. I can’t find that setting anywhere.
