Remove folder of URLs

Hi community,
my WP is located in a subfolder (wordpress) and I want the subfolder not to be visible in the URLs. Could anybody please tell me how to do that?

In other words:
https://example.com/wordpress/myfile should be turned into
https://examle.com/myfile

Do I have to use the .htaccess for that or can I manage it from the backend?
