• Hello,

I just installed twenty thirteen (Love it) on my classroom site (pgmelton.us). I need to figure something out. I need to remove what I believe is widget (or menu) area in the front page. I have a paid theme that allows the used to select a page type (wide: no column, left column, or right column), I don’t see that ability in this theme.

In short, I need the widest page possible so the the table can be seen.

Thanks in advance for your help,

    Peter

  • I’m not seeing the widget area you are talking about. Are you talking about needing the page width widened in general or is there an element that we can’t see that needs to be removed?

    Hello Missybunnie,

I am not sure what is in that area on the left of the my table. It appears to be a column but I can’t seem to remove it or have the table that is part of the template I created extend the entire width of the page (allowable area).

So I am not sure what is restricting the the width of the table and if there is something there can it be removed so that the table can be fully extended.

    Thanks for responding,

    Peter

You should first create a child theme so that your change are not lost when WP is updated –

Then, yes, it’s possible to modify the CSS to make the content section wider. Do you want that on all pages or just certain ones?

    Hello WPyogi,

Never made a child theme looking forward to learning how to do that.

I would like to keep this as simple as possible. So if making all the pages wider is easier than I will do that if not just the landing page.

Where is the code that controls the usable width (where the table appears) and what code should I use. I am not familiar with CSS (though I have edited code based on another person’s instructions) and I do know how to edit though ftp.

    thanks in advance,

    Peter
