Remove Orphaned Events does not work at all

Hi, the orphaned events function doesn’t seem to work. The system found a dozen of orphaned events that can be deleted. I hit the Remove Orphaned Events button once and twice, and after refreshing screen, the system and front end calendar still show the same orphans which are pointing to blank posts. The agenda view looks good, free of orphans. Why does the calendar show events that are not there?
