    The way the plugin is currently setup is that if you have nothing but Payments Pro and Express Checkout enabled it will display the Pay with Credit Card and Express Checkout buttons like you’re seeing.

    The Pay with Credit Card button would change to say Proceed to Checkout if you enable any other payment option along with those like check, cash, or anything else.

    With nothing but Pro and EC enabled then the options really are PayPal or Credit Card, and we’ve found over the years that when you setup the buttons that way conversion rates typically increase, which is why it was set that way.

    I do have plans to turn this into an option for people rather than hard-code it that way, but it might be a little bit before I’m able to get that done.

    Sorry I don’t have a better immediate answer for you.

    Thank you for getting an answer so quickly.

    My problem is that I have EC and Pro enabled BUT I have the settings in EC such that Paypal doesn’t appear on the cart page. So there is only one button and right now it says “Pay With Credit Card” it needs to say “Proceed to Checkout” where they can then choose either credit card or Paypal express to pay.

    @john Brice,

    If you have both EC and Pro enabled then the button should say Proceed to Checkout.

    I’ll have to test the specific configuration you’ve mentioned here, where you have EC disabled on the cart page. There’s a chance our logic isn’t quite right when EC isn’t enabled on the cart page.

    If I’m able to reproduce it we’ll get it resolved in the next update. If not, I’ll circle back with you to get more details.

    In the mean-time, I would recommend leaving EC enabled on the cart page anyway. Conversion rates typically increase when this is the case.

    Thanks so much for your response.

    If it helps here’s the site where you can see it happening:

    There’s another problem I’m having where on the checkout page, when they choose Paypal to pay, the button says “Place Order” instead of “Proceed to Paypal”. Hopefully you could see it there on the site. Overall I love the plugin and appreciate your responses.

    We never did intend for the button to change to say “Proceed to PayPal”. That’s something we could look into, but this is the first request I’ve had for it.

    In most cases people paying with PayPal do so through the product or cart page and skip the checkout altogether. We’ll definitely take this into consideration, though.
