    Hi,

Is there anyway to change the setting so that my picture’s caption/alt text/description does not show up instead of the page’s description? Right now Google shows some of the description from my page but also adds the picture’s information automatically, so the second half of the search result doesn’t really make sense. Is there a way to turn this off? Or does it mean I should delete the caption/ alt text/ description wording from all my pictures? Thank you so much!

Example: Right now for my home page this is the wording that shows up on Google:
Inspired by understated elegance, SKYE is a contemporary fashion brand offering reinvented classics and sophisticated essentials. … SKYE modern minimalist women fashion long sleeve asymmetrical high collar dress maroon … Shop Now.

Only the first sentence comes from the page’s description in the plugin section. After the … the wording “SKYE modern minimalist women fashion long sleeve asymmetrical high collar dress maroon” comes from either the caption/alt text/ description of one of my pictures on the homepage. The “Shop Now” is pulled from a button I believe. Is there anyway to avoid showing everything after the first … and just have Google use the wording I typed in the plugin instead?

    Thank you!

    Hi there!

Thanks for opening this topic ??

The metadata on your homepage is set up correctly; however, when the meta description doesn’t contain words you’ve entered in Google Search, Google will use parts of the contents that match instead. In short, Google can ignore your meta descriptions.

So, you should put words from the expected (or wanted) search query in the meta description.

And no, you shouldn’t remove the alt tags, they’re tremendously helpful ??

@cybr That makes a lot of sense. Thank you!
