Remove Posts from Static front page

After changing the front page from the post page to a static front page – the post still appear on the new static front page right below the header image. The posts also appear on the new blog page (old home) as expected – but do not want them on the new static page.

Is this a Auberge 2.1.1 theme issue or WP issue? I thought about using CSS to display none – but I believe they will still create loading time on the Home page – even though they do NOT display, they are still loaded from the server.
I tried to alter the “index.php” – no luck.

Can anyone help – I would to stop the code from loading posts on the “New Static Front Page”
