Hi, it seems like synched products stay forever and ever on Facebook. Of every product we have only one stock. So, if it’s sold, it’s out of stock.
It’s understandable that it still shows on Facebook.

But when we remove the product entirely from WooCommerce, the product is still being shown in Facebook. Thankfully, people can’t click to our shop; Facebook prevents that.
But how can we delete those products on Facebook via our synch?

Our WooCommerce shop has 400 products, the FB catalog meanwhile 1600. Manually deleting the products one by one is not an option. And creating a new catalog also not; cause it’s link with Instagram. Removing the catalog deletes al of our tagged Instagram products, we learned that the hard way.

So, how can we clean up the Facebook catalog?

  • Hi there,

I understand you want to clear out the products in your Facebook catalog that have been deleted in Woo. The documentation for the extension has a section that links to a snippet for bulk deleting the products that are synced over to Facebook, after which you can let things sync back over.

    https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/facebook-for-woocommerce/#bulk-delete-or-reset-all-synced-products
    https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/facebook-for-woocommerce/facebook-for-woocommerce-delete-or-reset-all-facebook-products/

    I hope that helps!

    Hello again,

Actually, reading through that snippet, it is looping through all the products within Woo and deleting them in Facebook. In your case, since the products are already deleted within Woo, that would not work.

Since they no longer exist within WooCommerce, it looks like they would need to be deleted directly in Facebook. You could Select all and then delete them, and then afterward sync them over fresh from Woo:

    Hi, i’m more a WooCommerce-person then a Facebook-person.

So, if we delete all the products in the Facebook Catalog and resync them again with WooCommerce. What will happen with the tagged Instagram product posts?

It’s a fashion store, their sales comes mostly via Instagram.
The shop can’t afford to loose all their tagged Instagram post. We’ve had this one when we had to delete and reconnect a new catalog.
But i must have 100% confirmation that deleting and synching products in the same Facebook catalog; it’s not gonna affect the Instagram posts.

So, if we delete all the products in the Facebook Catalog and resync them again with WooCommerce. What will happen with the tagged Instagram product posts?

Unfortunately I’m not 100% sure. ?? Facebook makes it very difficult to test this sort of thing, since they are very good at deleting/blocking our test accounts.

    These documents though:

    https://help.instagram.com/1851353085152666

… seems to say that, yes, deleting a product from the catalog will also remove it from Instagram. But again, it’s hard to be sure.

Would it be possible for you to test this on a product that’s already out of stock on FB, so removing it won’t lead to a loss of a sale anyway?

    Let us know, thanks!

    Hi there,

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved. If you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.

    Best!
