remove 'recent comments' bottom widget

it seem to be hard coded somewhere in the theme, but i can’t find it

I just installed the theme on a test site – and removed it no problem – what do you see under Widgets – the boxes on the right side – you may need to click on the flippy triangles to see the widgets already in them.

the recent comments widget isn’t active in any of the widgets
but it always shows at the bottom of the page

if i leave the bottom widget2 blank it automatically appears
what i did is, i place a custom text widget there and just left it blank

Yep, that’s how “default” widgets often work – they are there unless you replace them with something else – but it sounds like you found a good solution :).
