Remove RSS from P2 Recent Tags Widget/Child Theme Questions

I just installed this theme and love it! I do have two (maybe related) questions:
1) Is there a way to remove the RSS link (and .png icon) from the P2 Recent Tags widget?
2) Does this theme support Child Themes?
I tried fixing question #1 myself by creating a Child Theme and setting the CSS for the .rss to “display = none;” which worked, but the Child Theme broke almost all of the functionality of the site.
Side note: I tried editing the original themes CSS to hide the RSS stuff and it worked, but it also hid the icons for “Status”, “Blog Post”, “Quote” and “Link”.
