Hey there !

I’m using this Publication theme,on 4.2.1 WP, reading an earlier post about this topic, and wondering how to remove one of the sidebar, to have a content on a larger area, finding this more efficient.
YOu can see how it works on my site , here : https://youresto.com/blog/
Main page is split in 2, with too much large bars on side.

I’ve tried to change CSS as above, unfortunatelly with no change (but on bottom, where no content in the sidebar, sidebar is smaller, but still larger with 2 columns where there is content ( archives, rss, search…)

I’m with the Version: 1.0.2 (Publication Theme)

Where did I go wrong..? TY ??

This is the css for your sidebar and content area:

div#primary {
max-width: 870px;
width: 100%;
}
div#secondary {
max-width: 300px;
width: 100%;
}

can’t find your css in the css Publication theme sheet, do i need to add it ..? or change it somewhere..?

What Vishnupriya provided you with is the custom CSS overrides you can try to achieve your goal. You won’t find that code in the theme itself, as it doesn’t exist – you need to add it.

Here’s how to safely add custom CSS:

Don’t edit the theme files directly, otherwise your changes will be overwritten every time the theme is updated to the latest version.

An easy way to add custom CSS is to install the Jetpack plugin and activate the Custom CSS module. You’ll then add your custom CSS in the new stylesheet editor that’ll appear in your dashboard, under Appearance > Edit CSS.

As alternatives, you could either install a standalone custom CSS plugin, or create a child theme.

If Vishnupriya’s CSS doesn’t work for you after adding the CSS using one of the methods above, please let us know – I haven’t tested it. Be sure first to undo any previous CSS changes you’ve made and place them in your custom CSS editor or child theme.
