Remove spam comments doesn't actually remove comments in trash
-
The recent versions of WP-Optimize say if you run “Remove spam comments,” it will also remove comments from the trash, but it doesn’t actually do so. I’ve tested this a number of times and the number of comments in trash doesn’t change before and after that’s run.
That’s sort of frustrating because the spam plugin I use deposits spam comments directly in the trash rather than into Spam and there are generally quite a lot of them — over a 12-hour period, there will typically be between 400 and 800 comments in the trash, all of them junk.
Any ideas why this might not work?
