• Hi there,

I am using the Twenty Twenty-Two child theme. I like to keep the parent theme unedited to be able to receive updates.

My goal is to remove these templates parts:
    – Header (Dark, small)
    – Header (Dark, large)
    – header

My goal is to remove these templates:
    – Page (Large Header):
    – Single Post (No Separators)
    – Page (No Separators)

How can I remove these in the child theme only?

    Thank you.

  • Hi @robertfudge it looks like at the moment there isn’t an option to delete the template parts for the child theme. You have to remove them from the parent theme, the request to be able to delete is open below:

    https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/39951

You can add your experience there to push this further, additionally, you can get more information about a workaround.

Thank you. If I remove the parent template parts, will they be added back when the theme auto updates?

@robertfudge – Yes, if you delete a template part from a theme, those template parts will once again appear when the theme is updated. This is because they will physically exist in the theme’s /parts folder.

This is a good question and problem. Thank you for bringing it up. I definitely recommend leaving any feedback on the ticket that @thelmachido linked.
