    Hi all,

I’m trying to remove the title and all the whitespace around it for the main page.

In order to achieve this, I don’t mind removing it for all pages and then adding a title manually for only the pages that I want. So, this led me to editting the theme somehow. I came across this page, which explains it for the twenty-twenty theme. Applying it didn’t help…I guess I need something specific for the twentytwentytwo theme, which is what I’m using. Also, it removes the title and all the whitespace around it.

Can someone give me suggestions on which file, etc. I should focus my attention on? Alternatively, is there some kind of documentation that explains how the files are associated with each other? I’m somewhat overwhelmed by the number of files, even though I’m sure they’ve been separated in a logical fashion.

    Thank you!

    Ray

  • Hi @rwanwork

The Twenty Twenty-Two theme is a block theme that comes with Full Site Editing. You don’t need to edit your theme files to change how information is displayed on your pages.

Full site editing allows you to create and assign templates for pages, so for the pages you don’t want to display a page title you can use a template that doesn’t have a post title block.

Since the post title block is probably added to each template by default you will need to remove it.

Kindly go to Appearance > Editor and follow the steps in the video below to remove the post title block:

Once that is done you can create another template with a post title block which you can assign to pages you want to have the page title displayed.

You can read more about templates on this page:

    Hi @thelmachido

Thanks a lot for your detailed reply!

I’ve been using WordPress off-and-on at various jobs for a few years now, but only now has someone suggested that I change the default look a bit.

A brief Google search brought me down a rabbit hole of changing theme files, and I’ve been trying that for a couple of days with no success. Of course they weren’t for the Twenty Twenty-Two theme specifically.

Thanks a lot for your advice, including all the helpful links! I can see from your message that I had been going down the wrong path…

    You are welcome @rwanwork

I hope the information provided will help.

I would also suggest later going over the documentation for the default block themes.
