• A google speed test against a site using this theme turned up some things that are not so good. While the design is certainly friendly, there an unneeded scripts being loaded, particularly the flex slider. Removing the flex slider CSS and javascripts improved the rating for google by 5 points, which is pretty good. Also, you may want to consider integrating the “color” CSS into the main css file and reference it in a different way, so that there is one less load required when the site loads, that might be another point or two with google.

The slider is part of the theme so is necessary. If you don’t want to use the slider then of course remove it.

My thought was only when the slider is disabled (not used) that it might be good NOT to include the script into the header. It makes the theme just that little bit faster.
