• The plugin was much more useful when it had the ability to block the WordPress SEO ads in the sidebar. Now that has gone (probably due to pressure) it has taken away the spirit of this plug. – What a shame.

BTW: It does not make you unreasonable to remove the ability to prevent plugins from filling the ‘free’ WordPress platform with ads.

The reason I removed the ad blocking is because I didn’t want to walk over someone else’s business model and potential profits. I don’t think doing that is very supportive of the community. Besides, the ads only show on the SEO pages and nowhere else, so it’s not a huge train smash.

As for your statement that removing the ad blocking has taken away from the spirit of this plugin – that’s just ludicrous. v1.0 of the plugin didn’t even touch the ads so the actual original spirit of the plugin was to leave the ads right where they are.

The whole point of this plugin (it’s ‘spirit’ if you want to use that word) is to make the dashboard easier to use. The ads may look horrible, but they don’t detract from the usability of the dashboard on any way.

To be honest, I’m not too fased by the star rating of this plugin because it’s small side thing for me, but to give this 1 star for the erroneous reasons you stated is poor form on your part. The plugin does exactly what it says it will do and it does it well.

    Hi Hugh,
One person’s opinion. Your plugin is good but what attracted me to it along with others is the ability to remove ‘overtly obtrusive ads’ from the backend.
I just think it’s a shame you changed it.

Well agree to disagree then, but giving a plugin 1 star because it doesn’t have a feature that you want is abusing the plugin review system.

Hugh, you are correct and it needs to be changed. Unfortunately, I can’t see a way to edit it, I will leave a fresh star isntead. No absue of the system was meant, considering my 1 satr was aimed at your plugin that removed a core feature. I agree 1 star was harsh.

Thanks for that and I’m sorry this plugin no longer serves your needs effectively.

The ads do annoy me too but I agree with Hugh that the plugin shouldn’t remove them. I wanted to do this myself as well in a plugin, but thought better of it.
