Removing and Changing Image Alt Tags
-
By way of background, I wanted to remove the “Alt Image” name from the images posted on our website. These titles ‘pop up’ when scrolling across the images on the actual website.
I am not an IT Guru and cannot write code and I didn’t manage to find a solution to this problem without writing code so I decided to change the image settings myself (these were preconfigured by a Web Designer).
In actuality, the process is a very simple one so I am sharing in the spirit of WordPress!
The first thing to remember is that images are page specific. Therefore editing image titles in your Media Gallery will not help you. Images must be edited on the page the image is located.
To Remove the Image Name:
Go to the admin page on which the image is located
Click on the Landscape Icon
In the Edit Settings page remove the Title, Alternative Text and the URL
Click Update and close the edit settings
Click Update again to update the entire pageThe Image name should now not be visible on the website
To Change the Image Name:
Go to the admin page on which the image is located
Click on the Landscape Icon
In the Edit Settings page remove the URL & Alt Text
In the Title box type a title for your image
Click Update and close the edit settings
Click Update again to update the entire pageThe Image name should now be visible on the website.
So easy!!!
I hope this helps!!!
