removing attachment pages being indexed by Google Search for photoblog?

    Actually i have a photoblog with more than 5000 images and i only want images to appear in google images and not in Google search results as attachment page.
    Recently i am affected by Google panda due to those attachment pages with only image,ranked higher than parent posts.

    Now i want those images only to appear in Google Images and not in Google search as a attachment page.
    any help will be greatly appreciated..

  • in recently came across with the same problem and i solved it by installing Attachment Pages Redirect plugin. Not exacly know yet if it will prevent from indexing new pages nor remove attachment pages already indexed.

    If it redirects the pages, then Google will pick up on that and reindex.

    yes, it is a 301 redirect. I am wating next google bot crawl and see if those pages are remove from index. I will let you know the results

    Thanks for your comments.. I have used wordpress SEO by yoast plugin in order to redirect all attachment pages to main post. Also, now i insert images in the form of gallery or linking to image file.. It disables further creation of attachment pages..You can Follow the link below for more info:The solution is explained there.
