Hi. I am new here so I am sorry for stupid questions, but I really want to learn. I am working on my first website and I got an issue. When I setup new Page, where I have Gallery I dont like the fact, that people can comment on my pictures. I dont want that, but I dont know how to remove this option. I am using Twenty Seventeen theme.

Thank you so much for your help.

Edit the page and look for a box labeled “Discussion” below the editor. There you’ll find the check boxes to disable comments, trackbacks, and pingbacks.

If you do not see see this “Discussion” box below the editor, hit the “Screen Options” tab near the top right and check “Discussion” there. This will only enable the editor’s Discussion settings, so you’ll still need to disable comments in the “Discussion” box below the editor.

You can set the default for future posts and pages at Settings > Discussion in your site’s Dashboard.

When I go to Gallery here

I cannot comment, but when I go to specific picture I can comment.

    For example

When I when to Screen Options I didnt have Discussion or Comment option marked.

As mentioned, you need to check it there to *enable* the options which will allow you to disable comments.

I am sorry, but even that didn’t worked out. “Allow comments” wasn’t enabled. What I am doing wrong? Thank you so much.

Oh, sorry, re-reading you mean comments on individual images.

The process is a bit similar. You’ll need to click the specific image in the Media section of your Dashboard, then click “edit more details.”

In there, it’s very similar to above. There will be a “Discussion” box below the image where can toggle the comments. If you don’t see that, hit the Screen Options tab in the top-right and check “Discussion” to enable those settings.

Perfect. Thank you. Now its working. Is it possible to set it up like this as a default? It would be crazy to change it with each image separetaly. I am planing to have huge gallery. Is there other way? Thank you so much.

Yes, you can set the default for future posts and pages at Settings > Discussion in your site’s Dashboard.

Thank you James. Could you please tell what exactly I should change there? I tried to change something there already yesterday without success. Thank you so much.

At Settings > Discussion in your site’s Dashboard, uncheck “Allow people to post comments on new articles” and save.

This will only set the default for *future* items.

Thank you so much. Now I get it. I actually uncheck it yesterday already, but I didn’t realize it will work only for new posts from now. Thank you so much for your help. I have another bigger issue. If you would have a time I would really appreciate your help here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/fighting-with-font/#post-10345466
