Removing comments

Please can someone assist me in how to remove comments from my pages. I’ve done it before but have forgotten how I did it.

I am using a multi site setup and am not sure where to look and which files. I searched the subject and it seems that I need to remove <?php comments_popup_link(‘0 comments’, ‘1 comment’,
‘% comments’, ‘comments-link’, ‘Comments off’); ?>
from the comment-template.php file.

I looked in the editor under appearance I only have a (comments.php) and (comments_legacy.php) file and neither have the above code.

Please can someone assist.
