Removing counter for google 1 button

Hi,

Is there any way to remove the counter box for the google +1 button as other buttons I need (facebook, twitter, linked in) have the settings to get rid of the counter & google allows only size change while Google themselves say there’s an attribute in the button code that allows hiding the counter box.
So is there a way?
