Removing date archive links

I unchecked “Include Archive Pages” under Settings > XML Sitemaps yet date archive links continue to appear in sitemap.xml. For example:
- https://example.com/date/2014/08/21/
- https://example.com/date/2014/08/22/
- https://example.com/date/2014/08/29/
Is this a bug?
