• I am using the Optimizer theme and am trying to remove the excerpts from my posts so that they do not appear as preview text below the links on the page that lists all the posts. I have looked through a few how-to threads but am not sure where I need to look to edit the HTML code for this theme, and what exactly to do when editing it.

I am fairly new to WordPress customization, so any help would be much appreciated.

  • Generally speaking, you wouldn’t want to edit the theme files directly, otherwise your changes will be overwritten whenever the theme is updated.

The easiest way to customise your site I think would be to use custom CSS.

An easy way to add custom CSS is to install the Jetpack plugin and activate the Custom CSS module. You’ll then add your custom CSS in the new stylesheet editor that’ll appear in your dashboard, under Appearance > Edit CSS.

As alternatives, you could either install a standalone custom CSS plugin, or create a child theme.

This change should be relatively simple to make. Can you send a link to the site you’re working on, and we can go from there?
