Removing featured image from selected posts doesn’t work

Edit – actually nevermind, found it – there is a setting in the plugin options to not use the first image in the post as featured image. Problem solved.

I’ve started using this plugin because on some posts I need external links (from Amazon, for example), but not on all my site. However, now that I’ve installed it, every time I edit any post, where the actual post has an external image (that I don’t want to be as featured image), it automatically gets added to the external featured images section, even though there is already an actual featured image selected.

So I click on Remove external featured image from url and update the post, but the image comes back once again.

My main issue with this is that on the homepage I have a section with thumbnails from posts using the images I created on my own. Now, however, on those posts that I edited, because those posts happen to have an external image within the post, the image gets added to the new External featured image section and it replaces the actual featured image on the homepage.

Is there any chance of making that Remove external featured image option work?
