Removing sidebar widgets that are automatically generated

Hi!

I’ve just switched over to WP from joomla and I’m having some issues with the sidebar menus.

I would like the sidebar menus only to be visible on the homepage (frontpage) and then they should not be visible on other pages. I have installed a plugin to handle that called Widget Logic BUT the problem is, as soon as the sidebar is empty, it is as if the template generates automatic content for the sidebar. So even if there are no widgets visible in the administrator part, there are a bunch of them visible on the website.
