    Hello!

When I created the website, I didn’t know that tags I use for products would be public. I deleted all the tags I used (screenshot), but they are still visible on Google, even though they lead to a 404 page (screenshot)- oznaka izdelka in the URL means tag. I don’t understand how, why or how to get rid of them, because they are not in the sitemap or anywhere else that I would know of. You can see that here.

Please let me know how I can get rid of them. I even went to Google Search Console and requested removal of all URLs that include /tags/, but nothing happened.

    Kind regards

  • Google would take a few days to recrawl your website/sitemap.

Please consider re-submitting the sitemap and give it few days – https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/7451001

    Hi @wpcoworker .

That’s exactly what’s bothering me – I re-submitted the sitemap 3 times already since I deleted tags and fixed sitemap. I can’t find tags anywhere in the sitemap, but they still appear on Google.

Please try checking again on Monday or next Thursday.

Also you might want to consider setting up 301 redirects from old tag pages to your home page or the product listing page. This way users won’t endup reaching “404 page not found” page when they click on the tag pages listed in the google.

I see you are already using Yoast SEO plugin. Check if you see redirect option in Yoast plugin. Alternatively you can use this plugin to setup redirect rules – https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/safe-redirect-manager/

    Hello @wpcoworker !

When you replied, I checked out XML sitemap again and I can’t find tags anywhere. I uploaded the XML sitemap to Google Search Console again and I also have tags disabled in Yoast plugin. I checked the site:moj-bazen.si on Google again, and tags are still there. I even went to Remove tab in Google Search Console and disabled all links that start with https://moj-bazen.si/oznaka-izdelka/ , which is just /tags/. It was confirmed, but the tags are still there.

Creating a redirect won’t be a problem, but I don’t want /tags/ to be visible anywhere at all.

    Kind regards
