• Hi, we were using Generate Press and for whatever reason we have moved to a different theme. We have two issues:

GeneratePress is not currently active but we still see its options under the Appearance menu (https://prnt.sc/qclLkVcyelPm) – this seems really strange to us.

When I delete GeneratePress the menu item goes but this action breaks all the customer styles in our child theme (the child theme is not a child of Generate Press).

All very strange and we are not even sure where to start to solve this one. Any ideas?

  • Hi there,

it sounds like your Child Theme thinks it is a child of GeneratePress.

Edit the child themes stylesheet and make sure the template headers Template: does not say generatepress

    Hi David,

Thanks for the reply. That is exactly what I thought. However, inspecting the theme using the theme editor does not show that. It shows the correct theme. Are there any other places to check this?

Does the template name exactly match the theme you’re using ?

Yes it does. Its all very strange. I can’t see why the GeneratePress stuff is even showing as its not active.

You have to think – GP only loads its code if WP is told to load it. So the theme itself cannot load itself without those permissions.

Try disabling all plugins and any caching to eliminate potential conflicts.
