I have a Post Category labeled “Events”. I have added “Events” to the top level menu and linked it to the Events Category.

When I click on “Events” in the menu, the BROWSER tab says “Events Archives” – which is technically correct for WordPress, but I don’t want it to say “archives” because it gives the impression that the events are in the past.

Can I change the word “archives” somewhere? Delete it would be great, or at least change it to “Category”

    Here’s the link: https://catamaranconcerts.com/category/events/

  • Hi there,

Thank you for getting in touch with us.

The easiest way to do it is just using Yoast SEO plugin. You can download it here: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wordpress-seo/ and here is the article about using it: https://yoast.com/wordpress/plugins/seo/titles-and-meta-descriptions/

The other method is customizing the theme.

Thank you for your time in this.

    Best regards,

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction!

For anyone looking for the answer to this topic, here is how you remove the word “archives” on a category page using the Yoast SEO plugin.

Let’s say one of your Post Categories is Recipes. So when you go to https://www.yourwebsitename.com/Recipes your browser tab will say “Recipes Archives” – if you want it to just say “Recipes” then follow these instructions to remove the word Archives.

Follow this path in the Yoast SEO plugin: Yoast -> Titles & Meta -> Taxonomies

Then on the first section called “Categories” it is pre-set up to look like this:
    %%term_title%% Archives %%page%% %%sep%% %%sitename%%

Simply delete the word “Archives” so that it looks like this:
    %%term_title%% %%page%% %%sep%% %%sitename%%

Then click “Save Changes” at the bottom.

Here is also a video explaining it (for some reason I couldn’t see the video clearly, but I could follow the speaker’s instructions)
