Removing Unreferenced Thumbnails
-
I asked about this a few weeks ago, but didn’t really get any good responses, so I figured I’d try again. I haven’t found anything in my search, but maybe the community here knows more than I can find.
I need a plugin that will check my posts and themes, and delete any thumbnails that aren’t being referenced.
For example, in my theme, I have 400×225, 165×95, and 50×90 thumbnails referenced, so those will all stay.
But in my posts, I have like six other sizes that were generated for every image uploaded. Sometimes I’ve used those sizes in the content of the post. Most times, I did not. Other times, I’ve created sizes specifically for one post before removing them from being auto-generated. Now, I’ve removed every size generation that aren’t the three defined in my theme.
The plugin I need would preferably scan the uploads folder and cross-reference it with the contents of my posts and theme to see if image04-280×158.jpg is being used in the post or theme, and so on.
Do any plugins like this exist? I’ve run through DNUI, Image Cleanup, and Media Cleaner already, but none of these plugins do what I’m looking for. Upload Janitor looks to be the closest thing, but I’m reluctant to try it given its update history and the fact that the support forum is filled with “it doesn’t work.”
