    Hey Corey,

I was momentarily elated when Cache Enable updated to Version 1.5.1 as it fixed the conflict between CE and Shortpixel Adaptive Images plugin that I was experiencing. If you recall, I stated a few days ago that CE was preventing Shortpixel AI from serving scaled images. Version 1.5.1 fixed that issue, but the most recent update, Version 1.5.2, has brought that particular problem back.

    Thank you

Can you please test this with the latest version 1.5.4?

    Hi,

I updated to Version 1.5.4 but it did not resolve the issue. Shortpixel AI is still being prevented from serving scaled images. I flushed all caches (plugin and server) and tested several different posts/pages in GTmetrix. As stated before, it worked fine in Version 1.5.1.

    Thanks

We changed output buffering to start earlier in version 1.5, which resolved this. Nothing has changed that would affect this (at least that I’m aware of). Even when attempting to replicate the issue myself I’m unable. Can you please provide a direct URL to a page being affected by this so I can take a look?

    Hi Corey,

Sure. Here is one of the posts I’ve been using for testing in GTmetrix:

Even though you had provided all of the details my quick test earlier was not correct. I apologize for that. This issue was never actually fixed for that plugin in particular when releasing version 1.5. It did increase compatibility with other plugins but this one fell through it looks like (because the output buffering is still earlier than ours). We will come up with a solution for it now.

The change required to fix this will need a little bit more thought and research before its release, but a solution will be available rather soon. I apologize for the confusion and inconvenience.

    Hi Corey,

No apologies needed, this kind of thing is always in flux and I understand. I do appreciate the effort you have put in helping me and everyone else here since the recent updates. Looking forward to the fix.

    Thank you

To add to that, I do not know why but it seemed to be working in version 1.5.1 as indicated by the perfect score (A/100) in GTmetrix for “serve scaled images”.

Thanks for your understanding, it’s sincerely appreciated. I’ll follow up as soon as the solution for this is released.

Although I can’t say for certain, it’s likely that the test you performed on version 1.5.1 wasn’t done on a cached page.

    Hello Corey,

I was glad to see the update release today. Unfortunately, it did not resolve the issue with Shortpixel Adaptive Images plugin. I cleared all caches, at the plugin and server level, but it still interferes with Shortpixel’s ability to serve scaled images per GTmetrix.

Like I stated before, it worked in Version 1.5.1 and stopped with subsequent updates. You stated you thought the tests might have been performed on a non-cached page, but I ran the test several times over the course of the day and it worked fine until the following morning when I updated to 1.5.2 I believe. Either way, the problem persists for me.

    Thanks

This wasn’t addressed yet. ?? The changelog will contain what’s been changed.

This did not work in version 1.5.1. In fact, it’s never worked from what I can tell as Cache Enabler has always started the output buffer later than the plugin in discussion. They start on init at priority 1 (since the earliest 0.8.0 version I can download) and we now start on init at the default priority of 10 since version 1.5 (before version 1.5 we started later at template_redirect priority 0). This means we’re still missing what this plugin is doing to the page contents, even with the earlier buffering start. It also means it was never captured before either. To test this you can check if the image sources in a cached page have been changed.

We’ll likely be moving our output buffer timing to start even earlier in the advanced-cache.php drop-in instead to avoid potential issues like this with other plugins in the future. I’ve already tested this and it will in fact resolve this issue. This enhancement requires more time due to what it’s changing, so it’s going to be released in version 1.6.

    Hi Corey,

I didn’t see it addressed specifically in the changelog but thought maybe that was because you had so many other issues you had to address that it didn’t get listed. But that’s great that you have worked out a solution and I look forward to it. I love this plugin, it is simple but so effective and you guys stay on top of it.

    Thank you

    Hi @coreyk,

This is Pedro from the development team of ShortPixel. This situation was also brought under our attention by @jboy007, therefore I’m here to ask if there’s anything we can help with in resolving it. We do have several integrations with other caching plugins and we are more than open to also integrate with Cache Enabler.

Please let me know if you need our assistance to get this resolved.

    Best regards,

Thanks @petredobrescu! Version 1.6.0 has been released @jboy007. This version updated the output buffer timing again, which has resolved this issue. When you have a chance, I’d love to get your feedback and confirmation that the issue is in fact resolved for you this time around.
