Repeat variation images

  • I have several Woocommerce products available on my site. Each product comes in several colors & sizes. Say I have a single product offered in red, black and blue. Then sizes sm, med & lg are offered for each of those colors. That comes to 9 variations. I have the image for each color & size set in each individual variation so they change with the customer selection, but that means that there are several duplicates shown. Each color image is shown 3 times because it’s been attached to each variation of the color. I know why it’s happening but it’s messy & looks broken to the consumer.

    Is there a way to make sure that when each size/color is selected the correct image shows but not have duplicate images show on the product page?

    Have you added the images to the variations only? Or are there also images in the Product Gallery?

    If you have ensured the images are only added for each variation, I would recommend testing with the default Storefront theme to see if the images work properly on the front end of the site, as there could be something happening in the theme’s code that you are using on the site that is causing the images to display multiple times.

    I’ve had the same result with and without extra gallery images. It doesn’t affect the duplicate variation images.

    In this case, it sounds like the issue is being caused by either a conflict with your theme or with another plugin.

    The best way to determine this is to:
    ?

    • Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
    • Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
    • Repeat the action that is causing the problem

    If you’re not seeing the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict.
