• Hello,

What causes abandoned empty shoppibg carts every 5 minutes with different ip every time? 300 per day. Is that a mal? seems to be a matter of security? And how to fix it?
It is not woocommerce, it is a custom commerce plugin.

    Thank you in advance
    Manolis

If this was a custom plugin, you may have to go back to your developer team and ask them to make the necessary change(s) to it.

Commercial products are not supported in these forums.

    Hello there\

The security is not a matter of plugin.
    Please keep your offensive opinions.

What causes abandoned carts? Coudl be any nmber of things. Just off the top of my head..

    1. Visitors checking out pricing before deciding not to purchase
    2. Bots clicking on items to see how your shop works
    3. Bots randomly clicking links on the site which results in products being added to the carts with no intention of ever actually purchasing

What’s happening to your iste? There’s no way that anyone here can know. You’ll need to check the server logs and whatever analytics you have available to see what uses are doing, where they are coming from, etc.

    Hello @catacaustic

    Thank you for you reply.

my site is new and I do not sell anything and so it is impossible having real visitors. I believe they are bots, as you said. I will follow your advice to check out logs but in the meantime, do you suggest any solution to stop empty carts? I thought to change urls but I am not sure if this will be permanent.

    Thank you in advance,
    Manolis

Without knowing what ecommerce system you’re running, no there’s nothing else that can be suggested.

To be honest, the best possibility is that it’s Google (or another SE’s) indexing bots following links and your system is taking that as a cart request. BUT, it makes no sense for your site to be recording empty carts at any time, so I’d be going back to where ever you got that software from ans asking them why it’s doing that because it’s far from expected behaviour.
