Repeater template overwritten on update

Every time I update the plugin through wp-admin the custom repeater template we have in place is overwritten. We always enter the template through the provided field in the dashboard settings page, but after update that area is blank. I have had to keep a permanent backup of the code we have in there to replace it after every update.

Is this expected behavior?
