Repeater templates reset to default – twice

A client website is using Ajax Load More with the “Custom Repeaters v2” plugin. They have three different repeater templates that have been customized.

In December, these templates reset to their default. They had been highly customized – different html tags and classes. I had to dig up an old backup to restore them. We figured it might have been reset by the client on accident somehow.

Yesterday, 1/10/2018, the client reported that they had reset again.

What’s the deal? Also, why are the repeater files stored in the plugin folder directly? Is there any way to store these in the theme or somewhere else where they can’t be reset?

Is there any filter that I can use to override the default templates and point them to a template part I placed in the theme instead?
