New user – I’m asking a lot of questions, but I’m so close to getting this plugin to work!

My issue is with Events that are Repeating over several days. My current example is a virtual film festival that is running continuously April 16 through April 19. On the Date & Time setting, the dates are April 16-19 and the “all day” box is checked.

I am creating test pages with List, Grid, Tile, and Full Calendar views.

In Full Calendar, the Event shows up just as it should: on April 16, 17, 18, and 19, and no further days.

But in List, Grid, and Tile, no matter how I set up the Event back end, either 1) the Event doesn’t appear at all, or 2) the Event keeps appearing past its ending date.

I have screenshots of the back end and the front end of all the options I have tried. I can get these to you. I really hope I’m missing something idiot-simple-obvious!

I deactivated all my plugins except for two that I can’t deactivate without losing all my data. It didn’t help. My WordPress theme is Enfold, and I am running the latest version. I am running WordPress version 5.3.2 instead of 5.4 because 5.4 is creating bugs with Enfold that the Enfold team is working to fix.

    Hi @bamster,

Would you please provide us with some screenshots and images or short videos of the errors you faced step by step?
I would then forward it to the developer team to fix the issues in the upcoming updates. There is nothing to be worried about, we will fix the issues, I also appreciate you for reporting the issues. Please provide us with more details, screenshot or any documentation so we can find the issue.

Thanks for your reply! Sorry it’s taken me so long to get back to you. My job is being nuts.

Re “Related link for your issue: https://webnus.net/dox/modern-events-calendar/setup-date-option-on-shortcodes”
The date option applies to when the events *start.* My issue is with when they *end.* I did test a few variations of the starting date – “today,” “start of current month,” “on a certain date” – but they didn’t affect the outcome of when the event stops showing up in the calendars.

I can definitely show you screenshots. What is the best way to do that?

I have tested the Repeating Events function twice – when I first posted my question here, and yesterday.

    BOTH TESTS
On the Date & Time setting, I entered four consecutive dates and checked the “all day” box.
First test – Full Calendar, Grid, List, Tile
Second test – Full Calendar, List

    Event Repeating setting:
    – Event Repeating box not checked – event did not show up at all – BUT THIS WORKED CORRECTLY FOR THE SECOND TEST
    – Custom Days – event did not show up at all – BUT THIS WORKED CORRECTLY FOR THE SECOND TEST
    – Daily with “ends repeat on” – event shows up after its ending date
    – Advanced, with the event dates marked – event shows up after its ending date

I’m going to start building my website’s calendar page for real today, and I am keeping my fingers crossed that the un-checked setting and the Custom Days setting continue to work.

And just like that – the problem of events not showing up is back.

    – Event Repeating box not checked – event did not show up at all – BUT THIS WORKED CORRECTLY FOR THE SECOND TEST YESTERDAY – and now today, without my having changed anything in the Event listing, the event is once again not showing up at all

    – Custom Days – event did not show up at all – BUT THIS WORKED CORRECTLY FOR THE SECOND TEST YESTERDAY – and now today, without my having changed anything in the Event listing, the event is once again not showing up at all

    Another wrinkle, I’m afraid!

Yesterday evening I changed the dates on my Repeating test events to have them start today. This morning, I checked the calendar page in Grid, List, Tile, and Full Calendar. Now, Custom Days is working!

Summary of my tests when the repeats are set with Custom Days:

#1 – Event did not show up at all on the View page
#2 – April 29, Event did show up
#3 – April 29, later in the day – Event did not show up (no changes made in the Event back end)
#4 – April 30 – Event did show up (date range on Event was changed the previous evening)

In sum, the Event Repeating function is erratic. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

I wonder if anyone else is having this problem?

I’m wondering especially because my site is hosted on a State of Missouri server, and it sometimes interferes with normal functions of WordPress. ??

Would you advise I file a ticket on this? I’m totally cool with purchasing the support, too.
