The event started today and is every Thursday so I entered 10 times and accepted the end date of December 28th, but no matter what I do the event is showing every day for the next ten days. I keep getting this error –

Event hidden from public view. This event ends after the next occurrence begins. Events must end before the next occurrence begins.

Event end date: December 28, 2023 1:00 am. Next occurrence starts: November 9, 2023 8:21 pm

If I can’t get any answers I’ll need to find another calendar plugin. I thought yours would work a lot better than The Events Calendar, which is a disaster. I had no way to import all the events and locations I had, so I had to start all over again with your plugin, so I really don’t want to do that all over again with yet another plugin. My client keeps asking me why his event doesn’t show on every Thursday and I have no answers for him.

I don’t really know what else to tell you. As I said previously, and will rephrase now, the event start date and time is when people arrive to your event. The event end date and time is when people leave your event. The recurrence end date is the last date on which your recurring event will start.

So, looking at the last screenshot you posted, you’ve created an event where people arrive at 9pm on November 9th, leave at 1am on November 30th, and the event repeats every week. That means that the second event starts on November 16th at 9pm (two weeks before the first set of people have left), and lasts until early December.

Bluntly, it’s a pattern that doesn’t make any sense. You need to set the event dates to be about one event; and the recurring dates are about the *series* of events.

I’m lost on what you are saying, but first I changed it to show the times and an end date of the next day because it ends at 1:00 AM, even though it shows as being optional. It then showed on two days. No good. I then clicked on “hide end time” but it still showed on two days, although it did finally show on every Thursday. Progress.

If I click on the “hide end times” why would it still show on two days?

As a side note, I was so annoyed with this not working that I searched for another calendar plugin, and found the Modern Events Calendar. At first I was shocked at how feature rich this plugin was, with numerous features I never even thought of, like even the weather, but I downloaded their “try it” version just to check it out before buying it. To my considerable surprise they have no location information, like City, Province, Country, phone number, email address, or Google Map function. Totally useless!

I really hope we can solve this end times issue.

No matter what I try I keep getting this error –

“Your event end date must be either after or the same as your event begin date”

If I show the end date the same as the start date I get the error. If I don’t show an end date, because it says it’s optional, why do I get this error? Also, after updating the “hide end time” is also unchecked. Why?

It’s optional to enter one in most cases; however, it does always get a value. If you don’t enter it, it’s the same date as the start date. So if your end time is a smaller hour than your end time, e.g. an event that ends at 2am but starts at 7pm, then you’ll need to set the end date as the next day.

Hiding the end time only hides the end time; it’ll still show the event on each day that it occurs on.

If hiding the end time is an adequate solution for you, then you could also just set the end time earlier, so that it doesn’t overflow to the next day. With the end time hidden, that would simplify things.

I have no clue how to solve this. It’s important that the end time of 1:00 AM does show, as it does for multiple events at bars. Some bars are even open until 2:00 AM now, and even until 4:00 AM in Quebec. When it shows over two days it is too easily misunderstood as being on the second day. “Hide End Time” works for events that have no specific end time, but events that go after midnight should have a setting for “same day event” to avoid showing it over two days.

At least it is now showing on every Thursday but still not correct and my client is not happy. I guess all I can do is change it to midnight which will stop it showing over two days. I’ll add a note showing the correct end time.

Please note that showing an end time of 12:00:00 AM also results in the same error. By convention midnight is AM, and noon is PM.

Another issue is why are locations repeating every time an event is added? And a new error – ”?No link was generated for this event. There may be an unknown error.”

I can’t seem to get any answers, and now it’s a disaster!

I added a bunch of events, one for March 13th, but it is now showing up all over the calendar on different days! You can view the calendar here –

The calendar is now totally useless so I’ll have to search for another plugin if this can’t be solved, and quickly.

Hmm. Two weeks ago and I still can’t get any answers. I’ve been researching other Calendar plugins but can’t find any that are as good as this one, but unless I can get answers I don’t know what to do. This is an important feature on my website for both visitors and potential advertisers, so it needs to work. Is there a Community Forum anywhere that I could get some answers?

What exactly is your question at this point? I see that you have an event on March 13th; but I don’t see any problem with it.

You can’t just tell me that there’s a problem with an event; I have no way of knowing what you expect vs. what is visible. So I look at this, and yeah, there’s an event on March 13th that also appears on March 20th. Is that the problem? I can’t tell; it could be fine, but it all depends on what you expected.

A few things that would really help me:

    1. If you post a new issue, post it as a new thread. Putting all of your issues into a single thread simply makes it difficult to follow.
    2. For any issue, provide detailed context. Telling me that you got an error message isn’t very useful if I don’t know where and when you got it.
    3. Tell me what you expected *and* what you got.

As far as I’m concerned, this thread is impossible to resolve: there are too many different things going on in it, and I can’t follow it. It may be helpful to start over with a new thread for each individual issue.
