Repetition pattern counts forwards but not backwards?

  • I need an event that’s the last Friday of every month. I’ve put it in and have selected the option “Monthly by day (the 3rd Monday of each month)” and it works for August 25 but the first repetition should be September 29 but it comes out as September 22 — it seems to count forwards in the month but not backwards? Or rather, there’s no way for it to know that I mean the last Friday and not the 4th Friday. If I have the series start on Sept. 29, then I don’t get another one until December – the next time there are 5 Fridays in a month.

    Yes, that’s true; it’s not able to distinguish between “I want this on the 4th Friday” and “I want this on the last Friday”. The 5th week is unambiguously always the last week, but the fourth week is ambiguous, and I haven’t set up a way to toggle that.

    The work around is to create it starting from a month with 5 weeks, then delete the dates from before the actual start date. It’s awkward, I know.
