1. Possibly replace hamburger menu with search icon.
Valid point, search icon is more intuitive, but it is not prettier.
We’ll think about it.
2. Possible using an image for the background instead of colors.
There’s an almost endless number of locations. Having appropriate (and without reserved rights) photo is quite a task.
An image of rain – for rainy weather is not a problem, but there are other issues with that solution:
Hopefully, you have a responsive web page, and it adapts to users screen size.
The widget adapts too, so the background should adopt too. Meaning the background image should be big enough to adopt to desktop, and mobile as well. And that leads us to slow load of your page – which is not good (although there’s a bit complicated solution for that as well)
Then there’s an issue with readability – font size and color depending on the background.

The background image is not a great suggestion, although it sounds reasonable.
3. A possibility of a premium version without the ads… would be happy to pay for that.
There are no ads in the widget.
If you are referring to link to detailed weather forecast – it is useful for users who want to check the full detailed forecast.
