Replace post content on a specific day

  • I am looking for a way to completely replace the entire contents of a post on a specific day.

    I have a number of posts that are contest announcements. The contests expire on specific days. There are some plugins available that will delete a post or switch it to “draft” on a specific day, but in this case, I want to replace the post’s content.

    So, on the contest expiration date, I want the post to change so that the post explains that the contest has ended. I don’t want to delete or remove the post because the permalinks to the contests will be published in a magazine and I don’t want people hitting a 404 page.

    Any ideas on how to automate this without manually changing the post on the day the contests expire?
