I would like to switch out the product search in the upper right of the header with a site search box.

We have a child theme installed.

We found this thread here and installed the code but the site box looks a little wonky. The search button is placed under the search field.

Are there other ways of doing this?

Some options we are looking at now are:
    1. Removing the search button. ( most people just hit enter ).
    2. Resizing it so it fits on one line.

    Hey @ryanr14,

I think there would be away to change out the search box for the held held size also.

There is another small issue. The search box does not quite display properly in the header. It should be a little longer and have the search magnifying glass in it. The way it is being shown in the left footer column now.

We have become very busy and have not had the time to dig around in the code and do testing.

If anyone knows how to find the functions in PHP that will remove and add the seach box in the hand held version it would be helpful.

Hopefully, when we are done here, we will have a sold stable solution that other people can use to simply replace the product search with site search.

    Hi @smokingblends

There might be, but I’m not good enough with the PHP if it is possible. Like mentioned though you can remove the default search box in the handheld menu and add your own custom link.

Would you be able to send screenshots of what you are referencing here? Thanks!

Hey, I was able to get site search (not product search) working on the handheld footer menu in a child theme of Storefront. I’ve got a searchform.php and a product-searchform.php in my child theme, and I was able to access my custom search by removing the hidden input from the product-searchform (esp. the value="product" part).

I’ve done quite a bit of tweaking in my situation, and I’m not sure what’s relevant to you, but feel free to ask if still interested.
