• Hello,

I’m a user of the Enable Media Replace plugin and find it incredibly useful. For larger websites, replacing images one by one can be time-consuming. Could you consider adding a feature for bulk file replacement upon upload with the same filename? It would greatly enhance efficiency.

    Hi fmh999,

I’m not sure I understand your scenario. Could you please tell us step-by-step how it would work?

    Thank you,

    Hi Gerald,

Certainly! Instead of manually replacing images through the traditional method in the plugin (Replace Media -> Manually uploading the image), I envision a feature where if I upload an image named “109577.jpg” through the native WordPress upload, it would automatically overwrite/replace an existing image with the exact same name, “109577.jpg” through this plugin’s “Just replace the file” function.

I hope this clarifies the request. Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks fmh999!

This sounds interesting, but difficult to implement, as that means that when you upload an image, the plugin would have to scan every single image file, and that could be resource-intensive.

I will forward anyway the request to the developer team and if there’s any news I will let you know.

In any case, since this is a public & free plugin, we are very happy to review a Pull Request with such a feature on our public GitHub repository:

    Thank you!

Hi Gerard, I have the same question as @fmh999, and I’m curious if you heard anything from the dev team? In my current project, the site will be used as a document repository with a large number of files, and we’d like to keep the same filename and path for each document, but be able to replace files with newer versions by batch upload or drag and drop, rather than needing to select each individual media item and click “Replace”. I understand your point regarding potential demand on server resources, but if we could somehow enable the feature it would be great to test. Thanks!

    Hi nickpish,

No, sorry, there are no news from the dev team. We are fairly busy with other corrections and features for the plugin.

Like I mentioned, since this is a public & free plugin, we are always happy to review a Pull Request with such a feature on our public GitHub repository if you’d like to speed things up!

    Cheers!
