replaced social icon in child theme – broken image

Hi, I created a child theme and am trying to replace a social media icon and link but the image is a not showing up. My blog header and footer was created to replicate my website’s. Here’s what I’ve done so far and I feel I’m missing the final step:
Created Child theme with-
style.css
function.php
images folder (uploaded new social icon image to it)
footer.php – I copy/pasted parent theme footer.php file to the child theme footer.php file. Then I changed the social media hyperlink and img src name. When I preview the child theme, the image doesn’t show up correctly.
