• Hello,

I’m using the Permalink Setting of https://website.org/?p=123. I do this because it is a blog. But what if I want to create an entirely new contact or about us page.

How do I delete and publish the new one keeping the links intact? In the menu I see that is uses the page name, so I think (am I correct) that the menus would still work. But what if I have buttons etc?

    Thank you for any help,

You can’t, with that format. If you create a new page, it gets a new ID. The menus will point to the old page because a menu is just text strings associated with links.

Ouch, that makes things a little more complicated I suppose. Especially if even the menus would not longer work.

    No good solution I guess?

You could use one of the “pretty permalink” patterns. Your old ?p=xxxx links will always continue to work, regardless of permalink settings.

Just so I understand, I can change the Permalink settings now after the site has been up for a few weeks? That will help a lot. A couple of questions.

    A) What is the most common for blogs?
    B) If I don’t change the permalink settings, can I use the slug as part of the url when creating buttons?

    A) Date or title

    B) you can use whatever works as a link.
