Replaces featured image everywhere

This plugin is brilliantly simple to get started with, great work.
However, its simplicity poses a small problem for me, as it replaces also the 40x40px small thumbnails in a sidebar widget listing recent posts. The videos can’t be that small, so they show up as big blobs. Is there a way to limit the replacement of featured images for only the single views?
