Replacing apostraphe characters added backslashes

Tried to replace the fancy apostrophe character made by MS Word with the standard ASCII version throughout my site.

I intended them to all be replaced like this:
BEFORE: John’s
AFTER: John’s

It replaced the apostrophe as intended, but also inserted a backslash character before the apostrophe as follows:
John\’s

For example:
https://www.helloyoga.com/lifestyle/six-steps-to-keep-your-new-years-resolutions/

How can I remove these backslashes? I neglected to backup my database and now they are everywhere…
