Whenever I hit ‘reply’ to an email generated from Forminator, it puts my own email address in the “To” field instead of the person’s email who filled out the form.

In settings: I have entered “{email-1}” in the Reply-To Email field. Is that correct, or should I have done something differently?

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi @joymorin,

    Thank you for contacting us.

I have edited my notifications so that reply-to email has the {email-1}:https://snipboard.io/GapowB.jpg

After making submission and receiving notification, once I clicked on the reply to option, it automatically takes the email that I set as my reply-to email: https://snipboard.io/7GksYN.jpg

Which email app are you using when viewing your emails? If it’s a web app, you can try using an incognito window to avoid any caching. Also check in case any pre-populated values are added automatically by browser.

One basic check, but make sure when you change settings for your form notifications, that the changes were saved and published.

    Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for your help. The screenshots were helpful, and thanks for the thought to make sure the changes were saved and published.

    Here’s a look at my settings: https://snipboard.io/uYmMRH.jpg

I use Gmail to manage my site’s email. Here’s a screenshot of what I get when I hit reply to a test submission I made using the Forminator form: https://snipboard.io/vVqrlh.jpg

I’m not sure what’s going wrong here!

    Thanks again for the help,
    Joy

    Hi @joymorin

    Thanks for sharing these screenshots!

What if you also try to set the same {email-1} e-mail as “From e-mail”, does it change anything on your end?

Also, the e-mail that is currently overwriting that user e-mail – is it by any change the e-mail that you got set as main e-mail of the site (“Administration Email Address” option on “Settings -> General” page)?

    Best regards,
    Adam

Thanks for the suggestion. I went ahead and entered {email-1} as the “From e-mail”, and ran another test. Same issue, unfortunately.

And to answer your question, yes, the e-mail address that is currently overwriting the user e-mail is the same address set on the Settings > General page.

I’m stumped! Thanks for your help.

    Hi @joymorin

I use Gmail to manage my site’s email.

Do you use any plugin for the Gmail SMTP?

Some plugins force the override the emails which can cause some issues, you can check for any option “Force Override” and uncheck it to see if makes any difference.

Let us know the result you got.

Do you use any plugin for the Gmail SMTP?

I’m not entirely sure if I know how to answer that question. I can tell you have nameservers pointed that allow me to use the Google suite. And I can tell you that I previously was using the Ninja Forms WordPress plug-in and experienced no trouble with the reply-to settings when using that form and replying to emails that came through. Does that help narrow down what might be causing the issue?

    Thanks,
    Joy

    Hi @joymorin

    Thank you for the update.

Sorry, it seems was misunderstood from my side, when you referred about the Gmail I thought you had configured the Gmail SMTP to send the emails from your website.

The Gsuite DNS doesn’t have direct access on the website, which makes those emails send from your server unless there is any plugin configured that connects the Gmail & WordPress for emails.

Could you please export your form:

Upload it on Google Drive and share the link?
