Recently we noticed that email submissions were not being sent. When we go to the “Notification” section, we see that there is an error flagged for the “From Email” that says “Please enter a valid email address. Your notifications won’t be sent if the field is not filled in correctly.” We have set the “From Email” field to “{field_id=”1″}”. This had been valid in the past and all the email submissions had been coming through. Has there been a change that has caused this field to be in error? If yes, would you suggest what we should enter in this field instead of “{field_id=”1″}” ?

    Hi @jstepak,

    Thanks for reaching out!

Please note that some servers and SMTP services only allow specific email address(es) to send emails. When you use the {field_id=”1″} smart tag, this likely causes an issue because the email address may not have permission to send an email from your site.

Please know that we have a guide about troubleshooting form notification emails, with a specific section about the From Email.

About this: “Recently we noticed that email submissions were not being sent.” If your server should accept any email address in the From Email field, but notifications stopped, you can reach out to your hosting provider and share this issue. They should be able to check server logs and help you get this sorted out.

    I hope this helps!

    Hi @jstepak,

We haven’t heard back from you in a few days, so I’m going to go ahead and close this thread for now. But if you’d like us to assist further, please feel welcome to continue the conversation.

    Thanks!
