Replyto field inserts Administration Email Address in 4.09.06

    My contact forms on multiple sites just started acting up after the latest update.

    The replyto field is set to the email field from the form but it is inserting the WordPress: Administration Email Address instead.

    Logged entries show the correct address entered by the user.

    If you don’t explicitly add the email in the from field, the administrator email is inserted in its place.

    The tooltip instructions for the from field: ‘Enter the name and/or email…’ suggest that the email is not required but the FORMAT part of the tooltip shows that it is required.

    We had various end users who weren’t reading the tooltips fully and didn’t add the addresses where they had added names.

    Defaulting to the administrator email makes sense but it would be good to validate the field contents via regex or similar?

    Hi there,

    Yes – the FROM address will always default to the admin-email if no value is entered, and I believe the REPLY-TO address will always mirror the FROM address unless another value is entered.
