In the process of Republishing, the page’s template gets reset to Default.

    1. Choose Rewrite & Republish on an Elementor page using the Elementor Full Width page layout (template).
    2. Make changes.
    3. Save Draft
    4. Exit to Dashboard
    5. Press Republish – at this point the template reverts to Default

    Trying various things:
    – you can do New Draft or Clone without this problem
    – template is definitely one of the copied elements in the YDP settings; you can start the Rewrite & Republish process; go in and out of Elementor several times, saving the draft each time and the template is always correct; it is only at the point that you press the Republish button that the template gets lost

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @paulherzlich

We’re sorry to hear that you’re encountering issues with Yoast Duplicate Post and Elementor.

Just to clarify, you have the latest versions of WordPress 5.7.2, Yoast Duplicate Post 4.1.2, and Elementor 3.2.3 on your website, correct? And the rest of the plugins and themes are updated as well?

When testing this out on a new post on one of our test sites, it looks like the ‘Template Widget’ element is only on the Pro version of Elementor, so this is occurring with the pro version of the plugin, correct?

Also, just to be sure, we would like to rule out any plugin or theme conflicts that may occur. The fastest way to do this is to?deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme?like?Twenty Nineteen.?

Test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the?Health Check & Troubleshooting?plugin. This plugin allows you to run a conflict check?without affecting normal visitors to your site.

As we can imagine that you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process:?How to check for plugin conflicts. Please make sure you revert to a default theme and only activate Elementor and Yoast Duplicate Post and see if the issue still occurs, so we can confirm if there is indeed a conflict and the issue is reproducible with this set-up.

Regarding your clarifications: Yes, I have the latest versions. Yes, the rest of the plugins are updated (but you will see, that is entirely irrelevant).

My report has nothing to do with Elementor Template Widgets. It has to do with the WordPress Template for page layout, which you find under the Page Attributes in the WordPress Editor, when you use a theme that supports multiple templates or when you use Elementor.

The error I’m reporting has nothing to do with Elementor Pro or any other plugin.

I have created a debug site for you, with nothing more than WordPress, Elementor (not Pro) and Yoast Duplicate Post. If you give me a private way of transmitting the details I will.

But you could yourself do the same thing. Start by creating an Elementor page with a Page Template as follows:

    1. Set up a new WordPress installation with nothing more than WordPress (default theme 2021), Yoast Duplicate Post and Elementor.
    2. Add a new page. While in Edit, in the right column of the edit, under Page Attributes, for Template, choose Elementor Full Width.
    3. Then choose Edit in Elementor; create some content; publish the page (in Elementor)

Now start the scenario I gave you in my first message:

    4. Choose Rewrite & Republish on the page you just created.
    5. Make changes.
    6. Save Draft
    7. Exit to Dashboard
    8. Press Republish – at this point the WordPress template reverts to Default

Finally, please be aware that this statement in your reply is completely condescending if not insulting: “As we can imagine that you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, “. If this had been a plugin conflict, I would have already checked that.

    Hi @paulherzlich

Apologies as we didn’t mean for it to be condescending or insulting and for not understanding the issue properly. Thank you for providing the detailed steps on how to reproduce the issue.

I tried it on a test site with only the default WP TwentyTwenty theme, Yoast Duplicate Post 4.1.2, and Elementor 3.2.3 as the 2 plugins enabled, and then followed your exact steps from step 1-8 and was able to reproduce the issue wherein the Page attribute template reverts to ‘Default’ from ‘Elementor Full Width’ – https://snipboard.io/XxS1N9.jpg

We’ll check with our developers on this and try to get back to you soon regarding this matter.
